Then I lost everything.
Before PassionateKeyz, before any of this, I built a jewellery business called Quayson's Regalia. Bead bracelets. It was working — GHS 10,000 a month, consistently. I thought I had finally made it.
Seven months later it was gone. The trend died overnight and my entire income disappeared with it. I had nothing.
I had been playing gospel piano for over 20 years. I had trained musicians. I had taught church music departments across Ghana. The whole time, I had been sitting on something valuable — and I couldn't see it because nobody had ever told me it was worth anything beyond the church walls.
So I decided to try something. I picked up my phone — not a professional camera, just my phone — sat at my keyboard, and recorded a course. No studio. No team. No editing suite. Just me, my keyboard, and everything I had learned over two decades of playing in church.
I priced it at GHS 35 and launched it on 30th July 2023. The first sale came in. Then another. Then five more that week.
Month after month, the numbers kept growing. A phone recording, from my room, with no famous name behind it.
Over 1,000 students enrolled. From Ghana, Nigeria, and across Africa.
That experience showed me something I could not unsee: there are thousands of talented musicians across this continent who have exactly what I had — skill, experience, a gift — and zero idea how to make it work for them financially. I wrote this book for every single one of them.
